On the morning of December 27, 1994,
a tragedy befell the town of Mokokchung:
the Indian army committed atrocities
against unarmed and innocent civilians.
Arson, rape, and violence they did bring,
killing seven people; five were burnt alive.
Eight women were raped, a terrible sight.
The 16 Maratha Light Infantry and the Naga army did fight.
The town of Mokokchung was in despair;
The people were filled with fear and despair.
The Indian army had committed a crime
That would haunt the town for all time.
The people of Mokokchung will never forget
The tragedy that befell them on that day.
The Indian army must be held accountable
For the atrocities they committed that day.
