IMPHAL: Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh on Thursday told the assembly that the suspected man who was arrested in relation to the recent bomb blast at sangakpham Bazaar in Imphal was actually an India Reserve Battalion jawan.
Soon after the blast act the chief minister had accused the NSCN for the Sangakpham blast . The NSCN had denied any involvement in the explosion, the outfit had clarified that such act goes against their religious doctrine and political ideology and that it would not accept false allegations hurled against by vested interest with aid from some communal imphal based press.
The Chief Minister in order to drive home some points with his valley electorate who are more or less against any naga integration or any change in the hegemonic structure of the state were in away easily swayed by the CM’s orchestrated lies. The Chief Minister who also holds the home portfolio,had rushed to New Delhi to pressurized the Prime Minister and home minister to revoke the ceasefire between the naga outfit and the Centre.
The powerful IED, which went off on August 1, killed at five persons, including two girl students and a cadre of the outfit, in Senapati district. Besides, eight others were injured. The slain militant has been identified as Anthony of Sadu Koireng. The explosive was fitted to a scooter on which Anthony was sitting. The explosion took place a few seconds after Autonomous District Council (ADC) members left the spot in a vehicle.
The accused, who was arrested from Imphal on August 7, was posted as a security escort of the chairman of Autonomous District Council (ADC). On being quizzed, it was found out that he was a jawan of 4 India Reserve Battalion . Till the time of going to the press the state has not diverged any information on the nexus between the IRB Jawan and any valley based militants.
